Jose Miguel explains to Jill why one side of this fabulous pollard in the hills above Leitza in the Spanish basque country, has been cut differently from the other. This is just one of 35 pollards that are being cut by local axemen, local arborists and by English cutters. We are learning a lot about when and how they were traditionally cut and if modern cutting methods make any difference. Jose Miguel has been such a great champion of trees in his community and has been a great support to us in helping us to learn more about the traditional tree cutting in his area.
